Subtraction Facts
In my class we work on memorization of facts. We do this through many different methods. One is by sending home fact flash cards for students to practice. Without having facts memorized it makes complex math problems more difficult. When looking for flash cards I couldn't find anything to print and send home with the kids. I created a set that can be printed on card stock and sent home with the kids. Click on the picture below and it will take you to my TPT free download.

Blizzard Work
Monday= Snow Day (Yay! A day to sleep in and recuperate from the busy holiday)
Tuesday=Snow Day (Yay! I can get a few more things accomplished)
Wednesday= Snow Day (Ok I'm ready to be back. No more projects to work on)
Thursday= Snow Day (There is nothing left to do at home)
Friday = Snow Day (When in the world was the last time we had a whole week of Snow Days?)

In the mean time I am sitting here thinking about all that my students have lost because Christmas break went from 2 weeks to 3. I am looking to having to do testing when we get back as well. Anyone else in this boat? After doing some research and seeing that Ohio School's have "Blizzard Bags" that students can complete for Day 6-8 of calamity days so schools do not have to make up those days. What a great idea though. I mean not the using them as extra make up days but sending work to students while they have snow days.
So on Wednesday I created a packet of work for my students. It included Reading, Writing, Spelling and Math. It is all extra practice and work that they can do at home without much help. I offered extra credit for anyone that completes the work since I cannot require it due to not having school. This is a great way for the students to get back into the routine of school and come Monday when we go back they will be a step ahead of everyone else. This packet was emailed to all parents that I could email. I only have about 8 that I could not get the packet to. In the future I will send home the packet at the beginning of December and ask parents to hold it for the first snow day.
Check out what I sent home in my "Blizzard Work."

Snowday Work
Two full weeks of Christmas break followed by a Snow Day. I love snow days. Of course I also like snow. As a teacher I don't feel that I have anywhere that I HAVE to be so I can enjoy the snow. As of right now we have gotten at least 19 inches of snow in the last week. Nine came right after New Years. The other 10 is all from today and it is still coming.

What better to do on a snow day than blog and work on new products? That is right I have created a new product that I hope you will all enjoy. I kept with the theme of snow and have created a snowman graphic organizer for Reading or Writing. I plan to have my students use this to write about an event from their Winter Break. I can't wait to hear all of their great stories.
Enjoy my freebie. You can save the image to use or click on it to download for free.
