Thirty-One Teacher Bag Love!

As I get ready for the school year to start it is time to pull back out my "teacher bag!"  Of course it isn't buried too deep because I utilize all of my bags during the summer also.  Being a Thirty-One Consultant has some major perks.  I can choose any bag I want as my "teacher bag," or even change it throughout the year.  At this time I have two favorites that I plan to start the school year with!

I also wanted to join

Teacher by the Beach
for a linky!

First is my Cindy Tote.  I use this when I want to go to a Professional Development and don't need to carry as much.  It can work as my purse and my bag all in one.

The second one that I use the most is my Suite Success Tote.  It has 3 sections for all of my things.  It has two short straps and a long one.  Inside of it there is also a thermal pouch that I love to put a small snack inside for those days when I just need a pick me up.

I know there are some options coming out this fall and I may have to switch to a new "teacher bag."

Summer Reading

This summer I attended the Michigan Reading Association Summer Literature Conference.  It was held on Mackinac Island this year.  What a beautiful place for a conference.

During the two day conference we listened to many speakers and authors.  Steven Layne and Sharon Draper both talked a lot about reading for your grade level over the summer.  The focus was on getting kids excited to read.  How can they be excited if we aren't excited?
Sharon Draper was so great and mentioned that she was once told by a teacher that they "didn't like to read."  Her response was "Honey, you should work at Target."  If we are not willing to read then why should the kids?
Now I enjoy reading.  I look forward to the summer when I can read any book that I want!  I can read for me.  After this conference I decided I needed to do more reading for school.  I can have these book titles ready for the kids and already know what they are all about.

I will be teaching 3/4 grade in the fall so here are the books I have finished so far:
1. Mayhem on Mackinac Island by Johnathan Rand
2. The Queen, The Bear and The Bumblebee by Dini Petty
3. Three French Hens by Margie Palatini

I am currently in the middle of
Wonder by R.J. Palacio

What are you currently reading?  What grade level are you teaching?
